Terms of Sale & Returns

Last updated: 5 September 2026

Welcome to La Bottega at Villa Oberti.

The objects available through La Bottega are handmade pieces created in small quantities or as individual works. These Terms explain how purchases, payments, delivery, returns and refunds are handled.

By placing an order through this website, you agree to these Terms.

1. Our Pieces

The ceramics and objects offered through La Bottega are handmade.

Small differences in shape, colour, glaze, decoration, surface and finish are part of the character of each piece and should not be considered defects.

Because many pieces are made individually, the item you receive may show subtle variations from the photographs displayed on the website.

We see these differences as part of what makes each object unique.

2. Prices

All prices are displayed in euros (€).

Any applicable taxes will be displayed before the order is completed.

Delivery costs, where applicable, are shown separately before checkout or communicated before the order is confirmed.

3. Orders

When you place an order, you will receive confirmation using the contact details provided during checkout.

Orders are subject to availability.

As many pieces are produced in limited quantities, an item may occasionally become unavailable. If we are unable to fulfil an order that has already been paid, we will contact you and issue a full refund.

4. Payment

Payment can be made using the payment methods available at checkout.

Payments are processed securely through the payment services integrated into the website. Villa Oberti does not directly store complete payment card details.

5. Delivery

Orders are carefully packed, with particular attention given to the fragile nature of handmade ceramics.

Delivery times and charges will be shown at checkout or confirmed with you before dispatch.

Delivery is currently available to: [INSERT COUNTRIES / AREAS].

Where no specific delivery date has been agreed, orders will be delivered within the timeframe required by applicable consumer law.

You will be notified when your order has been dispatched whenever tracking information is available.

6. Receiving Your Order

Please inspect your parcel when it arrives.

If an item appears to have been damaged during transport, please contact us as soon as possible, preferably within 48 hours, and include photographs of:

  • the damaged piece;

  • the packaging;

  • the shipping box and label.

This helps us resolve the issue quickly with the carrier.

The 48-hour request does not limit your statutory consumer rights.

Returns & Right of Withdrawal

7. Changing Your Mind

If you are purchasing as a consumer and your order was placed online, you normally have the right to withdraw from your purchase within 7 days from the day you receive the goods, without having to provide a reason.

To exercise your right of withdrawal, contact us at:

[CONTACT EMAIL]

and include:

Your name
Order number
Item(s) you wish to return
Date the order was received

You may simply write:

I wish to exercise my right of withdrawal and return the following item(s): [item / order number].

Once you have notified us, the goods must be returned within the legally applicable return period.

8. Return Condition

Returned items should be securely packed and returned with all parts originally supplied.

You may inspect the item as you would reasonably be able to do in a shop.

If an item has been handled or used beyond what is reasonably necessary to establish its nature, characteristics and condition, any reduction in value may be taken into account when calculating the refund.

Because ceramics are fragile, please use suitable protective packaging when returning them.

9. Return Shipping Costs

Unless the item is faulty, damaged, incorrect or we have expressly agreed otherwise, the customer is responsible for the direct cost of returning an item after changing their mind.

EU rules allow the seller to require the consumer to pay these return costs provided the customer has been informed of this before purchase.

Return address:

[RETURN ADDRESS]

Please do not return an item before contacting us.

10. Refunds

Once a valid withdrawal request has been received, we will refund the payments due under applicable consumer law, including the cost of the least expensive standard delivery method originally offered where required.

Any additional delivery cost resulting from choosing a more expensive shipping method is not refundable.

Refunds will normally be made using the same payment method used for the original purchase.

Where permitted by law, we may wait until the returned goods have been received, or until you provide evidence that they have been sent back, before completing the refund.

11. Personalised & Made-to-Order Pieces

The standard 14-day right of withdrawal may not apply to items that are made specifically to your specifications or clearly personalised for you.

If a product falls into this category, this will be clearly communicated before you complete the purchase.

Importantly, the fact that an object is handmade or unique does not by itself mean that it is non-returnable. This exception applies where the piece has genuinely been made to order or personalised for the individual customer.

Questa frase la terrei: ti protegge dall'errore molto comune di scrivere “handmade items cannot be returned”, che per i normali articoli del tuo shop non sarebbe corretto.

Damaged or Faulty Items

12. If Something Is Wrong

If an item arrives damaged, is defective or does not correspond to what you ordered, please contact us at:

[CONTACT EMAIL]

with your order number and photographs where possible.

We will work with you to find the appropriate solution, which may include replacement, repair, price reduction or refund depending on the circumstances.

Consumers purchasing goods from a professional seller in the EU benefit from a minimum two-year legal guarantee of conformity, beginning when the goods are delivered. These statutory rights cannot be removed by our return policy.

Normal handmade variations in glaze, shape, decoration or surface that have been clearly described as part of the character of the object are not, by themselves, defects.

13. Cancelling Before Dispatch

If you change your mind before your order has been dispatched, contact us as soon as possible.

Where possible, we will cancel the order and refund the payment before shipment.

If the parcel has already been dispatched, the normal return procedure will apply.

14. International Orders

Customers ordering from outside Italy are responsible for providing accurate delivery information.

For destinations outside the European Union, local customs duties, import taxes or handling charges may apply.

Any customs duties or import charges imposed by the destination country are the responsibility of the customer and are not included in the product or delivery price.

15. Questions

If you have any questions about a piece, an order or a return, please contact us before purchasing.

[CONTACT EMAIL]

We will be happy to help.

16. Applicable Law

These Terms are governed by Italian law, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection rights that apply to customers in their country of residence.

Nothing in these Terms limits any statutory rights that cannot legally be excluded or restricted.
